Non-Rotating Wire Rope
TJ Steel Rope's rotation-resistant range runs from the 4V×39 and 18×7 constructions through 24W×7 and 35W×7, and on into the compacted 19×K7, 24W×K7 and 35W×K7 classes plus the TG916 and TG1315 lines. Each is built with opposing strand layers, so torque generated by the outer layer cancels the layer beneath it. Rotation-resistant rope matters most on single-part lifts where a spinning load is a safety hazard, and every construction in this range goes through torque and rotation verification before shipment. See the Wire Rope Glossary for a full explanation of how rotation resistance works.
Choosing within the non-rotating range
Standard strand or compacted?
18×7, 24W×7 and 35W×7 are standard-strand non-rotating rope — resistance climbs as you move from 18 to 35 strands, for taller lifts and heavier machines. 24W×K7, 35W×K7, TG916 and TG1315 add compacted strands on top of that, for drilling rigs and crawler cranes running multi-layer drums where crush resistance matters as much as rotation resistance. Compacted costs more and lasts longer, same trade-off as the rest of the range.
