8-Strand Wire Rope
8-strand constructions — the 8×19 and 8×26 line-contact classes, including 8×19S, 8×25Fi, 8×29Fi and 8×36WS, alongside the compacted 8×K26 range — offer higher flexibility than 6-strand rope of the same diameter, which suits applications with tighter sheave or drum bending. Compacted variants are available with a standard steel core, a plastic-injected core, a parallel-lay core, and in a high-strength European-standard version built to EN 12385. Diameters run from 6mm to 80mm.
Choosing within the 8-strand range
Flexibility first, then strength
Splitting the same diameter into eight strands instead of six makes every strand thinner and easier to bend, which buys fatigue life on small sheaves and tight reeving. The 8×19 and 8×26 classes are line-contact ropes for general hoisting; the 8×K26 range is compacted, adding back the breaking force and surface hardness that 8-strand normally gives up.
