6-Strand Wire Rope
TJ Steel Rope's 6-strand range covers the 6×19 and 6×36 line-contact classes — the general-purpose constructions, including 6×19S, 6×25Fi and the Warrington-Seale 6×26WS and 6×36WS — alongside the compacted 6×K31 and 6×K36 classes. Compacted ropes are available with a standard steel core, a plastic-injected core (EPIWRC) that distributes internal pressure and retains core lubricant, or a parallel-lay core (PWRC) built for higher breaking force and shock-load resistance. Diameters run from 10mm to 80mm in IWRC or fiber core.
Choosing within the 6-strand range
Line contact or compacted?
The 6×19 and 6×36 classes are line-contact ropes — the general-purpose workhorses, where 6×19 resists abrasion and 6×36 resists fatigue. The 6×K31 and 6×K36 classes are compacted: the strands are rolled after stranding, which raises breaking force at the same diameter and spreads pressure on drums and sheaves. Compacted costs more and lasts longer.
