7-Strand Wire Rope
Seven compacted strands sit closer to a true circle than six, giving a rounder rope that spreads pressure more evenly on the drum. TJ Steel Rope's 7-strand range is built around TG FLEX-7, a construction designed specifically for container crane service, available in 7×K19S, 7×K26WS, 7×K31WS and 7×K36WS with a plastic-injected steel core. Diameters run 12 mm to 80 mm at grades 1770 to 2160 N/mm².
Why seven strands
The geometry between six and eight
Six strands give abrasion resistance, eight give flexibility. Seven sits between them with a rounder cross-section than either, which is why it suits high-cycle crane duty where the rope is fighting abrasion, bending fatigue and multi-layer spooling at once.
